New version 1.2

Hi,

i just released the new version 1.2.
This version is specially made to work with jQuery ui (I advise you also to work with). The plugin will automatically adapt the theme with the one you choose. However, you can develop your own theme “locally” by editing base.css file where everything is ready and completing the “theme” option provided for that.

Some options have changed since version 1.1, so if you migrate to 1.2, look carefully the documentation and the available options.

Report me bugs and ask me your questions, i’ll answer asap.

PS : I stopped developing the plugin to be compatible with Internet Explorer 6 and 7 there is too much stress! Sorry for the users…

    Hi, Benjamin!

    You plugin is nice, but it does not seem to deal with the situation when we have more than 1 row in THEAD.

    I have a table with content-heavy headers + colspans.

    I altered your code in this way to support it (I hope this is OK):

    function buildHeaders(table) {
    _headers = $(”);
    _headerscontainer.append(_headers);
    _headers.append(buildColgroup(nbcol));
    var thead = $(”);

    /// NEW CODE
    /// ————
    $(‘thead tr’, $(table)).each(function () {
    var theadrow = $(”);
    $(‘th’, $(this)).each(function () {
    theadrow.append(this);
    });
    thead.append(theadrow);
    });

    /// YOUR CODE
    /// ————-
    // var theadrow = $(”);
    // $(‘thead th’, $(table)).each(function () {
    // theadrow.append(this);
    // });
    // thead.append(theadrow);

    _headers.append(thead);

    return _headers;
    }

    It seems to help.

    Strangely enough I could not find any actually working “fixed header” plug-ins lately: or the plug-in wasn’t working at all, or it wasn’t working with colspans in THEAD or some other problem. Yours is working!

    Thank you!

    The thing that sets this fixed header plugin with any other ones that I’ve seen so far is the ability to have a fluid table and scrollable body at the same time. It’s disappointing that you’ve given up on IE7 though as I can’t ignore this browser at the moment.

    Is there any chance of hosting this project with GitHub or something similar so that other people could possibly collaborate and try and solve the IE7 issue with you?

    Nice plugin. The vertical scrollbar should always be available. Don’t make users scroll all the way to the right to access the vertical scrollbar.

    any plans to support horizontal scrolling for those wide tables? Perhaps even frozen first column.
